ABOUT EUROCHAM MYANMAR

The European Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar – EuroCham Myanmar – launched in December 2014, co-funded by the European Union. EuroCham serves as the voice of European business in Myanmar, contributes to a better business climate and promotes trade and investment relations with the EU.

Working at the crossroads of international trade, economic diplomacy and public-private sector cooperation, EuroCham’s main contacts are Myanmar officials, EU member state embassies, the EU delegation, the European Commission, European businesses, international organisations and European trade promotion organisations.

Job Outline:

Head of Communication & Marketing serve as the primary staff for the strategic planning and direction of the communications and marketing of the Chamber. He/She will also build up strong relations with key stakeholders and establish good contacts with businesses, partners, suppliers and members

Job description:

-        Develop and deliver the communication plan of EuroCham Myanmar

-        Set, monitor and optimise the budget related to EuroCham’s communication efforts

-        Handle the organisation of events by EuroCham Myanmar, including managing and delivering annual events programme

-        Handle all incoming communication and marketing related enquiries

-        Follow up the website and update information and activities of EuroCham regularly

-        Manage the Chamber’s communication channels (website, social media, printed documents, etc.)

-        Collect external contacts and update the mailing list

-        Handle job inquiries from job seekers and collect job announcements from internal

-        Provide support to trade, exhibitions, conferences, and forums by using promotional tool(s) and prepare service agreements for sponsorship

-        Prepare e-Newsletter weekly/monthly with investment information, articles, interviews, event review, 
job opportunities and other EuroCham-relevant information

-        Provide supervision and guidance for EuroCham publications such as designing calendar and directory of EuroCham Myanmar, publishing privilege cards, etc…

-        Design pamphlet and leaflet of EuroCham Myanmar

-        Occasionally translate or review translations of documents (such as contracts)

-        Prepare and distribute news releases, media alerts and other announcements

-        Keep in touch with media in order to increase people’s awareness of the Chamber programmes and activities

-        Prepare presentations, reports, statements and editorial for the Executive Director if necessary

-        Develop and promote the Chamber to a wider audience.

Requirements

The EuroCham Myanmar Head of Marketing & Communications is a post with high visibility, operating in a complex environment. He/she should therefore have the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of international experience in both the private and public sector
  • International experience, working and living in multi-cultural environments
  • Experience in managing projects and teams, competence in handling finance
  • Leadership and management experience in shaping directions and driving performance
  • Excellent command of English and another European language (written and spoken)
  • Position open to European and Myanmar citizens

Moreover, the successful candidate will have the following personal skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communications and public relation skills
  • Excellent editing skills, as well as working knowledge of publication layout and graphic design
  • Good organizational skills to develop and deliver events
  • Excellent coordination and diplomatic skills: working with multiple partners, balancing interests in a complex governance structure
  • Solution-oriented thinking and hands-on mentality
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Highly detail oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and requests and prioritize accordingly
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines

The ideal candidate will also possess the following additional assets:

  • Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Be capable of meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments and clients to achieve operational goals
  • Previous professional experience in Myanmar and/or in other ASEAN economies
  • Previous professional experience on interest representation, membership organisations, and lobby

Conditions

  • Fulltime position in a professional and international work environment at the interface between the European business community and the Myanmar government
  • The Head of Marketing and communications will work closely with, and report to, the Executive Director
  • Working time is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • After a probation period the consortium offers a contract for 1 year, with the option to renew
  • Position to be filled as soon as possible
  • Based in Yangon (Myanmar), occasional travel in Myanmar and Asia
