EuroCham Myanmar meets Yangon Chief Minister
H.E. U Phyo Min Thein, Chief Minister of Yangon Region Government, along with U Han Htoon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Energy, Yangon Region Government, received EuroCham Agrobusiness Advocacy Group on May 29, 2019. The EuroCham delegation was represented by Government Affairs Manager, U Htet Aung Khine, Agrobusiness Advocacy Group Co-Chair, Mr. Johan van den Ban, Government Affairs Associate, Daw Khin Thor Ta Chit, Agrobusiness Advocacy Group Members, Ben Cliteur, Daw Poe Ei Soe, Daw Nina Yu and Agrobusiness Advocacy Officer Mr. Andrew Donni.
EuroCham Agrobusiness Advocacy Group continued its advocacy work towards improving the agricultural sector in Myanmar, meeting with the Chief Minister to discuss the process underpinning the ‘Land Title Conversion’ period. This process is often time consuming and has stifled European investment in the region as the main obstacle for companies wishing to launch operations in Myanmar. Yangon region stands to benefit greatly from the formalisation of this procedure meaning todays meeting was an important step in highlighting the issue for the Yangon Region Government and offering our viewpoint on behalf of the European Business Community.
