EuroCham Members visit Thilawa SEZ
On Wednesday 4th of September 2019, EuroCham organised a trip to the Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ) south to Yangon. Around 35 company representatives had the opportunity to get introduced to the SEZ and visit 3 factories and 2 ports.
The site visit started with an introduction by the Director of Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Ltd., Kazuaki Shirozono, who stressed the development speed of the local economy and presented special benefits that the Thilawa SEZ provides for companies and factories.
Following the introduction, METRO Wholesale received EuroCham’s members and toured them through its warehouse, presenting METRO’s methods to store and process high-quality food for its clients. The next factory visited was at PEB STEEL, which provided an insightful tour through their steel factory that highlighted the safety-first mentality of their production line. A strong focus on innovation and environmentally friendly production of food products were presented during the site visit at Bühler Group – a leading food processing machinery company.
The factory visits were concluded by tours through the two container ports Myanmar International Terminals of Thilawa and the newly opened Thilawa Multipurpose International Terminal.
During this day, all participants received unique insights and opportunities to develop their own business while engaging in informative presentations and discussions.
