EuroCham Myanmar joined the International Chambers of Commerce in Myanmar and the World Bank to discuss the impact of COVID-19 and the current business and economic situation

On 5th November, EuroCham Myanmar joined the International Chambers of Commerce in Myanmar and the World Bank to discuss the impact of COVID-19 and the current business and economic situation. During the event, the World Bank shared the findings of their recent household survey on implications for the welfare of the Myanmar population and businesses. The survey can be found here.

Meanwhile, EuroCham Myanmar Executive Director Karina Ufert gave a brief on the impacts of the second wave on the European businesses in Myanmar and highlighted the key mitigation strategies that companies are employing across different sectors. She also shared EuroCham Myanmar efforts in establishing meaningful cooperation with government officials and other stakeholders to mitigate the pandemic impact. Recently, EuroCham Myanmar shared the foreign investors' suggestions on the Myanmar Economic Recovery and Reform Plan (MERRP) with MIFER, highlighting the importance of the private sector role in the pathway to recovery.
