Foreign Chambers supporting COVID19 relief efforts with 500.000 USD funding raised
EuroCham Myanmar, French Myanmar Chamber of Commerce, British Chamber of Commerce Myanmar, German Myanmar Business Chamber, Italian Myanmar Business Association, American Chamber of Commerce Myanmar, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Myanmar Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry have raised over 500k USD to support essential Covid related healthcare.
Today, Community Partnerships International, one of the implementation partners of the Joint Chamber Fundraising Initiative, received the first batch of 77 brand new oxygen concentrators. The concentrators are now on the way to the remote areas of Myanmar – Kachin, Kayin, Mon and Kayah to support the community-based clinics. This is just the beginning, with more equipment and support coming: more oxygen equipment, food supplies, vaccines, generators…
This is possible thanks to the good cooperation between the foreign chambers, which together raised over US$ 500,000 in less than a month from its members. All of these funds go to the procurement of equipment and supplies directly, without any overhead’s expenses. This cooperation is part of a broader #TeamEurope effort, where the public and private sectors work hand in hand to support the people of Myanmar, fighting the impact of the global pandemic.
Meanwhile, working with EuroCham Logistics members, we were able to secure direct procurement from the suppliers and cut the cost of equipment by at least 30% compared to the price, available at the market.
