ASEAN EU Business Summit: Deepening ASEAN-EU Trade: Sustainable Development for All

The 10th ASEAN-EU Business Summit, which took place on 13th December in Brussels, is a platform to deepen the cooperation between the two blocks. ASEAN is the EU’s third largest trading partner outside Europe, after the US and China.

This year, the Summit’s theme was “Deepening ASEAN-EU Trade: Sustainable Development for All.” While Myanmar was absent from the agenda, most interventions highlighted the importance of rules and value-based international trade, as well as safety and stability for advancing the development agenda.

The ASEAN-EU Business Summit was held a day before the first-ever Summit between the leaders of the EU and ASEAN member states. Leaders issued a joint statement at the end of the Summit, which touches on several important subjects, including the EU-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement prospects.

Our CEO, Karina Ufert, attended the ASEAN-EU business summit in Brussels.
