EuroCham Myanmar’s Third Cost of Living Monitor Report

In June 2025, EuroCham Myanmar released the third edition of the Cost-of-Living Monitor Report. This initiative, launched in December 2024, addresses the critical need for reliable data on commodity prices and inflation trends in Myanmar. The first report was published in December 2024, followed by the second edition in April 2025, and now the third in June 2025. Each edition provides valuable inflation analysis and market insights to support member companies’ strategic planning and help close the market data gap. The year-long project provides quarterly reports based on analyses of the monthly market prices of 47 essential food and non-food items across 11 townships in six major States and Regons: Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwaddy, Bago, Nay Pyi Taw, and Southern Shan State.

The latest findings indicate that Mandalay Region experienced the highest annual average inflation rates among the surveyed regions, with 36.5% in May and 36.2% in June. However, the overall annual average inflation decreased from over 40% in December 2024 to 26.8% in June 2025. Notably, unlike the previous quarter, there was no significant monthly inflation observed, suggesting a stabilization in prices across the country. These trends reflect broader economic conditions influenced by evolving supply chain dynamics, currency fluctuations, migration, and policy shifts.

At a recent Myanmar Price Monitoring Survey Discussion in July, co-hosted by the World Bank Group (WBG) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), our Head of Policy and Strategy, Thet Zaw Htwe, shared key insights from our Cost of Living Monitor reports and participated as a panelist in discussions on inflation, market trends, and the impacts of policy changes on Myanmar’s business landscape.

Looking ahead, EuroCham Myanmar remains committed to delivering quarterly insights that support strategic planning for member companies and strengthen market understanding across Myanmar’s business landscape.
