EuroCham Myanmar will be organising a discussion on “Myanmar’s Agri-Food System: Current State and Emerging Risks from the Iran War”, in collaboration with our valued member, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) on 18 June 2026 (Thursday)
Myanmar’s agrifood system continues to operate in a complex environment shaped by conflict, economic pressures, climatic shocks, and shifting global market conditions. This webinar will present the latest findings from IFPRI’s household and farm surveys on the performance of Myanmar’s agrifood system, including discussions on the impacts of multiple shocks and policy changes, as well as trends in farm production, marketing, farm and food prices, and household welfare.
Given the current global context, the session will also examine the potential implications of the war in Iran for Myanmar’s agrifood sector, highlighting emerging risks facing Myanmar’s farmers and the wider agrifood system.
