With the recent tightening of foreign exchange rules and import restrictions in Myanmar, the vast majority of businesses operating in the country are facing increased challenges, including delayed import license approvals and more complex foreign exchange transfers. This is confirmed by EuroCham Myanmar’s June survey, while the previous survey confirmed that 88% of respondents are continuing to experience severe banking challenges. In light of the current situation, consistent challenges, and concerns, EuroCham Myanmar and UNDP will jointly host a webinar titled “Navigating Uncertainty: Challenges and Solutions for Businesses in the Current Economic Climate in Myanmar”. During this session, UNDP will present the discussion paper ‘FOREX and trade restrictions: potential effects on people and businesses” and seek participants’ comments and feedback on the issues raised.
