EuroCham Myanmar Sustainability Working Group Initiatives

With the aim to support European business in Myanmar, EuroCham Myanmar launched a new 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩. EuroCham Myanmar believes that this group will provide a platform for our members to engage and work together on broadening the understanding of sustainability and driving the responsible business agenda forward. Ensuring a positive impact on the local community is central to that agenda.

The group’s first meeting took place on 7th September, facilitating a discussion on the initiatives already taking place in the business community and exploring a common, practical agenda for businesses to work on. The working group emphasized the importance of adapting global programs and goals to suit the local context for maximum impact in the country. Stakeholder engagement across sectors, capacity building through sustainability-themed training, and collaboration on humanitarian and development initiatives are also identified as some of the key areas for the group.

Following the first meeting, a survey on the sustainability practices will be conducted to determine the priorities, share among the participating companies, and gather insightful ideas for focused efforts.
