EuroCham Myanmar Hosts MEETup Participants for Insightful Session on European Business Landscape in Myanmar
On 28 March 2024, the EuroCham Myanmar executive team welcomed 15 participants from the MEETup (Myanmar-EU Empowerment) Programme to EuroCham Myanmar’s Yangon Office. Their visit was to understand better the European business landscape, its evolution, current challenges, and outlook. Currently, EuroCham Myanmar represents 162 European businesses and affiliates, such as European Embassies and NGOs, with operations in Myanmar.
During the meeting, EuroCham Myanmar CEO, Ms. Karina Ufert, shared the specifics of the Chamber’s advocacy work in this complex environment. Moreover, the participants gained insights into European business operations regarding commercial viability, responsible business practices, ongoing challenges, and red lines of businesses,. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where young Myanmar leaders could share their views on the importance of continuous engagement with Myanmar in maintaining compliant business operations and EU policy support. There also been time to enjoy some Italian pizza and Coca Cola to comfort everyone.
The Myanmar-EU Empowerment (MEETup) Programme is funded by the European Union and organized by the EU Delegation in Myanmar in collaboration with the EU Member States and other partner organizations in Myanmar. It provides a unique opportunity for youth from different parts of Myanmar to participate in strengthening their understanding of the European presence in Myanmar.
