Sustainability Vital for Responsible Business: EuroCham Myanmar Visited Coca-Cola’s Waste-water Treatment Plant
EuroCham Myanmar’s 164 members, comprising European businesses and affiliated organisations, are at the core of our Chamber. To gain deeper insights into our members’ business practices and better understand how ongoing challenges impact business operations, EuroCham Myanmar is arranging visits to our members.
With this in mind, on 2nd May, the EuroCham Myanmar team visited Coca-Cola Pinya Beverages Myanmar, a valued member of our Consumer Goods Advocacy Group. During the visit, we had the opportunity to explore Coca-Cola Myanmar’s main beverage plant, which is located in Hmaw Bi Township, Yangon. Representatives from WWF Myanmar, an affiliated member of EuroCham Myanmar, also joined us on the visit, specifically interested in learning more about Coca-Cola’s wastewater treatment.
During the visit, our team witnessed the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability, reflected in their packaging innovations, water stewardship efforts, installation of alternative energy initiatives, and support programs for community empowerment. The most notable aspect of the visit was learning about Coca-Cola’s goal of ensuring adequate wastewater treatment, aligning with global standards in their commitment to responsible business practices and respecting human and ecological water needs.
The EuroCham Myanmar Team extends its utmost appreciation to the Coca-Cola team for arranging such an enlightening tour of the production lines and wastewater treatment plant, which provided invaluable insights into the company’s sustainability initiatives for the environment and the communities in Myanmar.
Coca-Cola Pinya Beverages Myanmar has been operating in Myanmar since 2012. It is dedicated to conducting business responsibly by implementing numerous impactful, sustainable programs for Myanmar communities, including Water Management, Economic Empowerment, Sustainability Initiatives, and Community Care. It is also a member of EuroCham Myanmar’s Sustainability Working Group.
