EuroCham Myanmar member Sampan Travel is running Beyond the Chindwin WWII tour of Myanmar
In February/March 2025, EuroCham member Sampan Travel is running their Beyond the Chindwin WWII tour of Myanmar. Led by historian Dr Robert Lyman, this journey explores what happened in Burma during WWII: the arrival of the Japanese; the retreat and later return of the British armed forces; and the role of General Aung San and the ethnic groups who fought on both sides.
As well as looking at the history, this journey explores how the events of WWII, the formation of the Burma Independence Army, and the manner in which the British exited the country, led in part to where Myanmar is today.
Dr Lyman is the world-authority on the Burma Campaign of WWII. Included in this journey, there will be an exclusive film screening of the critically acclaimed documentary, ‘Forgotten Allies: the search for Burma’s lost heroes’.
This is going to be a moving and unforgettable journey through past and present.
