EuroCham Myanmar hosted Energy Briefing

On 24 October, EuroCham Myanmar hosted a hybrid briefing to address the challenges and outlook of Myanmar’s energy sector, following the recent World Bank’s Myanmar Energy Sector Update, Energy Poverty Amid Plenty (link: https://lnkd.in/gU2zWhD9)

The event brought together industry experts from The World Bank and EuroCham Myanmar member companies, Smart Power Myanmar, Mandalay Yoma, and Yoma Micro Power. The experts shared their insights regarding the current energy situation in Myanmar and its unrealized potential.

The speakers stressed the importance of transitioning to sustainable energy solutions to future-proof business operations, while highlighting the factors, hindering the broader adoption of solar solutions. Such factors include a lack of suitable financing instruments, limited technical expertise, and import license restrictions. Having said that, solar energy has proven its efficacy in Myanmar, powering thousands of households and businesses, and its broader adoption is instrumental in ensuring business continuity.
