EuroCham Myanmar Announcement: Chairman Mr. Adrian Short to Step Down

EuroCham Myanmar announces that Mr. Adrian Short, Chairman of the Board of Directors, will be stepping down from his role following the completion of his tenure and his move to Malaysia. His departure marks the end of a significant chapter in the Chamber’s history, defined by resilience, transition, and growth.

Mr. Adrian has served on the Board for seven years, including five years as Chairman. Under his leadership, EuroCham Myanmar navigated profound organisational changes and industry developments.

Over the past five years, Mr. Adrian has overseen EuroCham Myanmar’s transformation from an EU-funded initiative into a fully independent, self-sustaining membership organisation. Today, EuroCham Myanmar stands as a trusted partner for European businesses, fostering connectivity, engagement, and collaboration both within Myanmar and beyond.

During Mr. Adrian Short’s five-year chairmanship, EuroCham Myanmar achieved several important milestones, including:

  • Membership growth to 165 companies with strong retention.
  • Improved governance, engagement, and stakeholder cooperation.
  • Introduction of the Affiliate Membership category.
  • Delivery of Business Confidence Surveys, sector studies, and regular security briefings.
  • Strengthened collaboration with UMFCCI, the EU Delegation, and the EU–ASEAN Business Council.
  • Launch of two new initiatives: the Cross-Internship & HR Development Programme and the Cost of Living Monitor.

As Mr. Adrian steps down, the Board of Directors expresses its sincere appreciation for his dedicated leadership, commitment, and service. His contributions have played a pivotal role in shaping the Chamber’s identity and strengthening its position within the business community.

EuroCham Myanmar would also like to also express our sincere gratitude to our outgoing Chairman, Mr. Adrian Short, for his unwavering guidance during the last five years, and would like to congratulate the nine elected Executive Committee members for the next two years term: Mr. Alexander Bohusch of Luther Law Firm, U Alex Nyi Nyi Aung of Unilever Myanmar, Mr. Cedric Martin of EXERA Myanmar & Vietnam, Mr. Dominique Nicolas Jung of Heineken Myanmar, Mr. Jens Uwe Parkitny of Oway Group, Dr. Jonathan Chih of Maersk Myanmar, Mr. Julien A. Pechey of Novotel Yangon Max, Daw Myat Phyu The of the Coca Cola Company and Mr. Patrick M. Benkert of WE Fashion.
