MADE Buyer’s Forum 2026 Brings Industry Leaders Together

This month, the 2026 edition of the MADE Buyers Forum took place, an initiative of the project “Multi-Stakeholder Alliance for Decent Employment in Myanmar (MADE in Myanmar)”. This two-day Forum, funded by the European Union, on 28 and 29th of January, brought together European garment brands, manufacturers, labour rights organizations, and key stakeholders to reflect on progress and the way forward for Myanmar’s garment and footwear sector.

On the first day, a closed-door Buyers Roundtable took place, to which 50 brand representatives participated. Discussions focused on responsible sourcing, labour standards, child labour prevention, Myanmar Garment Industry Monitoring Mechanism, and heightened human rights due diligence, with observations and recommendations shared through presentations by The World Bank Myanmar, Yever, the Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB), and the WageIndicator Foundation, and ProEthics Solutions Service Company Limited.

On the second day, a larger Stakeholder Conference took place, with approx. 320 participants, among whom were brands, factories, labour rights organizations, and other industry actors.

The discussions explored shared challenges and opportunities to strengthen compliance, workplace safety, and responsible business practices, including increasing wages, across Myanmar’s garment and footwear sector.

MADE in Myanmar, a project funded by the European Union, has brought together 36 international brands and more than 195 factories to promote responsible sourcing and long-term compliance. Implemented by sequa gGmbH, EuroCham Myanmar acts as a consortium partner in MADE, working with European businesses to continue and enhance responsible sourcing from Myanmar.
